Do You Appreciate Education?

Hopefully each of us has had at least one teacher whose passion for their subject was enthralling. Even if you never cared for the topic, they made it interesting and meaningful. How did they do it?

A compelling educational speaker knows the subject thoroughly, delivers the material purposefully, and enthralls the audience emotionally.

1.  Knowledge: You have got to know what you are talking about.  Make sure what you say is not all you have to say. We have all met people that have quickly told us more than they know.  Don’t let that be you.

2.  Purpose: Have a destination you can reach in the time allotted for you to teach.  Let your audience know where you are taking them. If you can’t find a clear path through information how do you expect your audience to find one?

3.  Emotion: Passionate presenters invite the audience’s heart first.  Decisions are made emotionally and rationalized later.  We judge a teacher more by how we feel towards them than what they say.  Don’t assume great ideas can survive depressing demonstrations.

Draw out your audience with emotion, purpose and knowledge and they will appreciate being educated and will remember you.
